The MGB was coming to the end of its production life in 1980 and the LE (Limited Edition) marked the very end. This LE was number 864 of the 1000 examples - number 285 of the 420 Roadsters - produced and was built during the last few days of MG production at Abingdon.

Marked as one of the ‘last of the line’, this MG Roadster appears to have led a cherished life and has had only light use. The recorded mileage of 43,351 miles is supported by the overall condition of the car, a collection of service invoices and 22 past MOT certificates. It is currently tested until August 2019 and comes with a Heritage Certificate and a large service file.

In 2016 the car was treated to over £4,000 worth of service parts and improvements. These included new mirrors, stainless steel exhaust system (including manifold), alloy rocker cover, Gaz shock absorbers all round, rebuilding of the seats (in leather), Motolita 14” steering wheel and a classic style radio incorporating MP3 facility.

The special LE wheels were refurbished by The Wheel Specialist, of Ellesmere Port at a cost of £690 and they really do look good.

This is a super example of the last of the MGBs and there can be few like it. Low mileage and fastidious owners (four in all) have ensured that this car looks every bit as good as it did when it came out of the factory. One for the collector, perhaps?
