Love it or hate it, you can’t ignore it: 17 feet long, 6’5” wide and weighing in at 4,430lbs this 1964 Ford Thunderbird Coupé is a statement car (and you can discuss amongst yourselves exactly what that statement says).

It is a beast of a car, (although interestingly lighter, narrower and just 5” longer than the latest Audi SUV!) and as you can see is a real beauty - Rose Beige paintwork was an inspired, if daring, choice (let’s hope the sun is shining on auction day).

Powered by Ford’s mighty 390 cubic inch V8 (6,400cc to you) which turns out 300bhp, it may surprise you to know that this T’bird has the same power to weight ratio as a 2016 Fiat 500 Abarth or 2008 Mazda MX5 – but also has room for four full size adults and an inordinate amount of luggage. Probably best not to mention the fuel consumption, though.

Imported in 2014 and first registered here in 2015, DTV 344B is in fabulous condition and is believed to have been repainted before it left the States. The recorded mileage is 88,512 and although this cannot be guaranteed, the condition of the interior would support this figure.

The car had its last MOT in 2017 and passed with no advisory notices; it has done only 2,299 miles since. It is understood that it has recently had four new tyres fitted, a pair of rear shock absorbers and two new brake hoses. It is also believed that the engine was rebuilt in 2017.

The car has had regular use with the current owner and has featured in American Auto News and Classic American magazine. The owner tells us that the car runs and drives very well and has been used regularly.
