Billed as the sensible choice for the economy minded commuter who valued sports car styling and handling combined with frugal consumption.
Powered by GM's "Iron Duke" 2.5 litre 4 cylinder motor the SE model was part of the model's launch range and reputedly returned an impressive 37mpg. The styling was unusual for GM, featuring a mid-engined 2 seater body and useful boot behind the engine.
This cool red automatic example came from warm, dry Houston, Texas with its owner who moved back to Herefordshire and loved the car so much, he brought it with him in early 1990. The car has one old MOT on file issued in 1992 yet has covered little mileage since this time having spent 23 years in storage. The car fired and ran immediately at the time of our visit and presents well with a current MOT until July 2020 showing just one minor advisory for damage to the windscreen. A recent service including new discs, pads, handbrake cable, battery and fuel pump ensures the car runs as it should for its lucky new owner.
The history file comes with an old style V5, current MOT, 1 old MOT from 1992 and its US export docs.
