Ford announced its all-new Escort MkIII in 1980, the new car being the first Escort to feature front-wheel-drive and a transverse-mounted engine.
They were great handling cars in their day and the CVH engine proved extremely reliable and economical. Carrying on the Escort’s sales bonanza, they have recently come onto the classic car radar as an affordable way into classic Ford ownership at a level that won’t break the bank.
This splendid low-mileage MkIII Escort 1.6 Ghia has had just four owners from new, but none of them appear to have been very keen on driving it as it has still covered fewer than 42,000 miles from new – that’s just 1,200 miles a year!
On offer from a deceased estate, it looks just as one would hope and has clearly been cherished since new. Ordered in extra-cost black and to full Ghia spec, you will struggle to find a nicer example of this collectible Ford which has a 'no advisory' MOT until October 2019.
