This smart 1975 MkIII Mini was purchased by the vendor in July 2017, since when it has been ‘refreshed’ by its serial restorer owner.
Purchased because it was a genuine MkIII and not as is so often the case, a later car transmogrified to look like an earlier version, it was soon treated to a light body restoration (for that is all that was required) and painted the subtle shade of Westminster grey with a sporty black roof.
Despite the logbook showing it as an 850, it has a ‘peppy’ (the words of the vendor) 998cc engine with a recent clutch (2018) fitted by GT Engineering.
The smart Minilite-style wheels hide a 10” Cooper ‘S’ disc brake conversion up front which was supplied by Minimail in 2017 for £191. The photos online show it sitting in its lowered state – courtesy of the adjustable ‘hi-lo’s and it has uprated Mini-Sport type shock absorbers. To finish off the car, the vendor fitted a new Cooper ‘S’ grille in 2019.
Now both tax and MOT exempt, the vendor describes it as ‘a great fun little car with all the happy cheerful characteristics of a Mini’ – we know exactly what he means.
An ideal candidate for a 1,275cc upgrade, or as the perfect first classic for a Dad and Daughter or Mum and Son combo…we love just as it is.
