Believed to be one of the earliest MkI Midgets left, this unfinished restoration project was supplied new to Guernsey on the 28th September 1961 and remained there until exported to Wales in September 1994.

Its previous owner had purchased it to restore but only got as far as removing the engine, gearbox and some body parts before giving up. Our vendor took over in around 1995 and a full chassis up restoration commenced, although alas this was not completed either and the Midget has been sitting in storage, untouched for the past two years after 24 years ownership.

He did however purchase two new front and rear wings, bonnet, floor pans, both inner and outer sills, boot floor, rear valence panel and lots more from Moss Bristol. Some of them he fitted. New brake drums, shoes and wheel cylinders were also purchased along with brake master and clutch slave cylinders, bushes, kingpins and brake pipes too.

The engine had new lead-free valve seats along with new rings, big end bearings and seals plus a new distributer. Boxes of parts with this lot include new lights, door mouldings, grills, rear lights and other bits.

Our vendor made a jig for ease of restoration and the chassis has been painted to protect it - part of the jig is still fitted for ease of transport/manoeuvrability. Evidently there is much work to do, the body needs prepping and painting and assembly completing, however it is a very early GAN1 chassis car and represents an intriguing opportunity for the semi-brave.

The history file includes the export certificate from Guernsey dated September 1994, a few sundry invoices, old photographs and a couple of Haynes manuals. There is no V5C as the car was never registered after import to Wales in the mid 90s.

Offered here today at No Reserve.
