Launched at the Geneva Motor Show in 1996, the new Jaguar XK8 Coupe was the replacement for the venerable XJS which had in turn supplanted the E-Type. Designed by Geoff Lawson, who had also penned the stunning XJ220, it shared its platform with the Aston Martin DB7 to which it bore a more than passing resemblance. The first Jaguar ever with an eight-cylinder engine, it's 4-litre V8 produced 290bhp and could waft the car to an electronically limited 155mph top speed.

This particular XK8 was sold new in May 1999 by Guy Salmon of Coventry to a gentleman resident in London’s Docklands. It then had one further keeper before being acquired by the current vendor in August 2004 with just 15,000 miles on the clock. The sale was again handled by Guy Salmon and a bill on file shows that the car cost £25,750 at the time. Some six years down the line and it has still only covered 29,200 miles.

Looking particularly attractive in Champagne Gold with a mushroom hide interior, the car is in excellent condition throughout, as you would expect with such a low mileage. Always kept garaged in the current ownership and never used in the wet, it has been lovingly cared for and has been waxoil treated twice in the last six years. It comes with a full service history from new comprising eight service stamps to date (an average service interval of just 3,650 miles) and was last serviced in April this year since when it has covered less than 100 miles.

The car is supplied with all its original handbooks and is packed with all the usual Jaguar refinements including air conditioning and a switchable sports option gearbox. Surely as good an example as you could wish to find, this is one for the serious Jaguar collector.

Please note the personalised number shown will be replaced with an age-related number prior to the sale.
