Founded in 1983, Westfield Sportscars are manufacturers of both factory built and kit versions of two-seater, open top sports cars. Their main product line is a minimalist Lotus Seven-inspired car with all unnecessary weight shaved away to deliver the rawest and most exhilarating driving experience possible. Now based in Kingswinford, Birmingham, Westfield have sold over 10,000 cars world wide since 1983 and currently produce over 400 cars a year for driving enthusiasts the world over.
First registered in September 1999, this particular Westfield SE is presented in the classic Lotus Seven colour scheme of yellow and green that was immortalised by Patrick McGoohan in the cult Sixties TV programme, The Prisoner. Power comes from a 2-litre Ford Pinto engine with Weber carbs and a 4-speed gearbox – given that the whole car weighs about as much as an empty crisp packet, the performance is said to be very exciting indeed.
The first owner kept the car from new until August 2008 and only covered 920 miles in all that time. The current vendor bought it from him and promptly dispatched it to Westfield for a thorough service and overhaul in September 2008 and it has barely covered any miles since. The plan was to modify the car for sprints and hillclimbs but pressure of other commitments means that he has now reluctantly concluded that he will never find time for such frivolities, hence the reason for sale. Currently on SORN but due to have a fresh MOT before the sale, the car is said to be in very good order throughout and also comes with a spare 5-speed gearbox if desired.
