Initially based in Orpington, Kent, GCS Cars produced an open two-seater called the Hawke that was a development of the Burlington SS originally made by Burlington Cars. Modelled fairly closely on the Morgan, it had a substantial square box frame chassis and a glass-reinforced plastic body with two doors and a soft-top. It used the Ford Cortina and later the Sierra as the donor vehicles and could take a variety of engines from Ford and the Rover V8.

First registered in November 1999, this particular Hawke is based on Ford Sierra running gear and is fitted with a 2-litre Ford Burton engine mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. It has had only three owners from new (the second two being brothers) and has only covered some 5,000 miles to date. Always garaged and used in dry weather only, the car is said to be in excellent condition throughout.

It comes with an insurance assessor’s report dated February 2000 which states that it has been built to an unusually high standard and should therefore have an insurance value of £18,000. It certainly looks extremely smart with pearlescent green paintwork and a beautifully trimmed tan leather interior. It is also fitted with a heater and an immobiliser and comes complete with hood, sidescreens and tonneau cover. The vendor states that it is huge fun to drive with excellent handling and an impressive turn of speed.

It comes with a large amount of documentation relating to the build and subsequent maintenance and is taxed until October and MOTd until May 2011. It also has a rather nice registration number, 598 CUE, which would surely have a value to any snooker fans out there. Only reluctantly being sold due to lack of use, it is on the button and ready to go and will be perfect for posing around in this summer.
