This 1953 Excelsior Universal Model U2 has the optional battery and lighting and is fitted with plunger rear suspension. The Villiers 125 engine was standard fitment and appears to have a non-standard Triumph silencer. The wheels were rebuilt 3 years ago. This motorcycle has been stood for some time in a private collection and was last on the road in 2007. It has the very rare and correct dual saddle and is ideal for learner legal riders. The bike recently started very easily but could do with a really good clean. Not many of these machines are still in existence and engine parts are still readily available from Villiers Services in the West Midlands. This is a nice lightweight motorcycle with a bit more class than a Bantam as Excelsior were renowned for their performance machines.
