This beautiful Austin Seven Cambridge special was built between October 2008 and May 2010 by a retired engineer who was formerly chief instructor at the Austin Training School in the 1960s. Based around 1937 Austin Ruby running gear, it features a new aluminium body with a louvred bonnet mounted on an ash frame to the original design of the famous Austin Cambridge specials made by Bill Williams from 1939 to the 1950s.
The rebuilt engine is standard apart from the fitment of a genuine Cambridge performance cylinder head and a four-branch manifold. The car features aero screens to the front and a dummy MG-style slab tank to the rear – the actual fuel tank is in the floor of the boot. The interior has been trimmed in cream leather and new tyres fitted all round. Discreet indicators have been fitted for safety.
In wonderful condition throughout and said to drive beautifully, it is effectively still running-in and will need gentle treatment for the first few miles.
