The PGO Cevennes is manufactured by PGO Automobiles, France’s smallest car manufacturer, who have been building sportscars for some 25 years. The car offered for sale is the first ever right-hand drive model which was first registered in March 2007 and has only covered some 34,000 miles with just one registered keeper from new.

"It’s obvious from the moment you pull away that the whole car has been well engineered,” wrote Roger Green in a road test for EVO magazine. “The fit and finish are first rate, there are no shakes, shimmies or rattles and it feels at least as good as a product from a major manufacturer. More to the point, it rides beautifully and yet corners hard and fast with minimal body roll. It hangs on well through the bends, keying into the tarmac and slingshotting out with little fuss or wasted effort."

Looking very reminiscent of the classic 1950s Porsche 356 Speedster, it features a composite moulded body shell over a multi-tubular crash tested spaceframe structure. Power comes from a Peugeot 2-litre double overhead cam four-cylinder unit with 4-valves per cylinder and electronic fuel injection that produces 138bhp. Driving through a 5-speed manual gearbox it can propel the 980kg car to 60 in just 6.8 seconds on its way to a top speed of 134mph. Suspension is independent all round with McPherson struts, with dual circuit ventilated brake discs at each corner. Steering is by rack-and-pinion.

Lavishly equipped inside, it comes with: red leather seats, dash and door panels; air conditioning; power steering; remote central locking; electric windows and mirrors; radio/CD/MP3 player and a black Alpaca hood. It has an MOT until June 2011 and is taxed until November. With cool retro looks but all the toys and comforts of a modern car and blistering performance, this thing has fun written all over it and is sure to prove a real crowd-stopper wherever it goes.
