The E36 range of BMW saloons and coupes ran from 1991 to 1999 and maintained an enviable reputation as the benchmark small saloon that all other rivals strove to beat. Beautifully built with rear wheel drive and superb handling and refinement, they could satisfy even the most sporting driver at the week-end yet tackle the commute with utter reliability during the week. Power came from a range of punchy engines from a 1.6-litre four to a creamy smooth 2.8-litre straight six. Middle of the range was the 2-litre straight-six found in the 320i which produced 150bhp and could propel the car to 60 in under 10 seconds on its way to a top speed of 133mph.
Dating from 1993, this particular 320i Coupe has had just one owner from new and has only covered 23,700 miles to date. In excellent condition throughout, it has no fewer than 25 BMW stamps in the service book, giving an average service interval of less than 1,000 miles – making it probably the most over-maintained car we have ever auctioned!
The owner was registered disabled so the car is currently fitted with hand controls but these can easily be removed if desired, or the car can be driven conventionally as it is. It has a sports automatic gearbox, comes with its original toolkit and torch, has a current MOT and is on the button and ready to go. Try and find a better one…
