Launched by Morris in 1928 as a rather belated response to the Austin Seven, the diminutive Minor started life with a Wolseley-designed overhead camshaft engine also used by MG. In 1931 there ap-peared a simpler 847cc side-valve version that has stood the test of time and remains one of the most endearing small cars that Britain has ever produced. Minors were far less numerous than the Austin Seven and only around 40,000 of the overhead cam types and 47,000 side-valve models were built before the more widely sold Morris Eight arrived in 1934.

Dating from 1932 and still on its original registration number, HN 8234, this delightful little side-valve Minor two-seat tourer looks most charming with a lovely feeling of originality about it. The car is said to run and drive well with a notably quiet engine. Finished in Moss Green with black wings and a green interior, it comes complete with hood and side screens, all fully serviceable. This car has the advantage of a four-speed gearbox and cable brakes. The previous owner kept the car for almost twenty years and there are substantive invoices on file for work carried out to date, including a new clutch in October last year and a reconditioned dynamo. With an MOT and tax until May 2011 it is ready for immediate use.
