Jaguar XJ6 L 4.2

When it was unveiled in 1968, the XJ6 caused a press sensation, offering an astonishing level of equipment, handling, comfort and silence, together with the traditional Jaguar attributes of performance and value for money to match its good looks. It immediately made every other car look over-priced and old-fashioned. Jaguar had done it again.

The XJ range was refreshed late in 1973 with the introduction of the Series II. The new car featured a sleeker body shell which had a smaller front grille to allow for higher front bumpers, required to meet the new US regulations. A front air intake below the bumper, new lights and a revised interior with much better switchgear and heating system completed the comprehensive list of revisions.

This early 1975 4.2 XJ6 L must be one of the last examples to be so called before Jaguar standardised the longer wheelbase bodyshell across the range. Showing just 63,500 miles from new, 19 old MOTs accompany the car which has been dry stored and kept off the road since 2006. Fitted with a new automatic choke system, it runs smoothly but will require light re-commissioning before use. Complete with period 8 track, it even comes with a Barry White cassette to bring alive the complete ‘70s experience!
