Jaguar E-Type S1 2+2 Coupe

It may be one of the most beautiful shapes in motoring history but the E-Type Series 1 fixed-head coupe does have one serious drawback – if you are much over 6-foot tall you just won't fit into it! The original car could also accommodate only two people so Jaguar addressed both these shortcomings in 1966 with the launch of the 2+2. With a higher roofline and stretched by 9-inches, it was still powered by the same magnificent 265bhp XK 4.2 litre engine but now had enough room to squeeze in three passengers and a tall driver. 

Dating from 1965, this particular 2+2 is a genuine UK market car that still retains its original engine and all-synchromesh gearbox. In the current engineer ownership for the last 28 years, the car appears to be in good order throughout after a substantial restoration in the late 1980s and is said to drive very well.

The top end of the engine was rebuilt about five years ago and is suitable for unleaded fuel. The paintwork is nice and glossy after a full respray last year, undertaken not through reasons of bodywork deterioration but because the 80s paint had gone dull over the years. The car has been waxoil treated and also benefits from stainless steel exhausts, a Webasto folding sunroof and five chrome wire wheels. Taxed and MOTd until May 2012, the car has always been kept garaged, has been well maintained by the current long term owner and is ready to drive away today.
