The Morgan +8 was born when the Buick-derived Rover V8 was shoehorned into the Morgan 4/4 under the watchful eye of Peter Morgan in 1967 and was to remain in production until 2003 during which time over 13,000 had left the Malvern factory. The basic lightweight ladder “Z” frame chassis, sliding pillar suspension and simple ash-framed body helped to keep the overall weight to a minimum and the performance to a maximum.

Chassis number R9264 was despatched from the factory on 22nd June 1983 as a right hand drive +8. It was sold through Malvern Sports Cars and left the factory painted Opalescent Silver and had “House of Lords Red leather” upholstery. Options included: aluminium body & wings; reclining & folding seats; two extra tread rubbers; locking petrol caps; door handles; maroon hood, tonneau, & side screens; 4-seater screen; Cuprinol wood frame; double underseal and a radio/cassette plus aerial & speakers.

With just 21,370 miles from new, this one owner example has clearly been well cared for its whole life. Whilst the paintwork is showing a few signs of wear and tear and the House of Lords leather seats have that lived in look, the car looks to be in very sound condition and sounded wonderful whilst manouvering for the photographs. The engine (not the exhaust note!) was particularly quiet running and the Mulberry hood looked barely used.

This is an excellent opportunity to obtain a low mileage one owner car that has been well maintained throughout its 28 years and could be easily made excellent if desired.
