Description | Morgan 3-wheeler pedal car |
Year | 2009 |
Colour | Gold/Black |
As part of the centenary celebrations for 2009, the Morgan Motor Company introduced a numbered, limited edition child’s pedal car based on a 2/3 scale model of their iconic 1920s 3-wheeler. This was actually designed and built by the works alongside the full-sized cars. It adhered to the same principals of sound engineering and the use of high quality, lightweight materials that are found in the road-going versions.
A simple tubular chassis, just like the original, was clothed with an aluminium body with hand-formed louvres – again just like the original. The dummy V-twin engine at the front, working headlights and an adjustable seat makes it very appealing to both young and old and they were even sold for a period through Harrods – who were the first official dealers for Morgan shortly after the company was founded.
The vendor of this superb example is a prominent VSCC member with close connections to the Morgan Motor Company. Working with Matt Humphries and Jon Wells of Morgan Design, an eye-catcing special paint scheme was developed to mirror his racing livery. The factory obliged by producing a unique version which included a painted radiator shell and two-tone coachwork. It competed in the annual pedal car race at Prescott Hill Climb and has been carefully looked after, remaining in 'as new' condition.
With a retail price of over £3,300 this, the most collectable of pedal cars, looks excellent value at the guide price suggested today and would make a fantastic addition to any garage, office or child’s bedroom.
