Edward Turner’s parallel twin may have been a thing of wonder in 1937, but things progress and the pre-unit twin was subject to a myriad of changes and performance upgrades until 1963 when all models of the twin became unit construction of the engine and gearbox. One area which always was a bone of contention with the youth of the day was the handling of the large capacity twins. Triumph addressed this in 1960 with the advent of the duplex frame in 1960, although not quite getting it right at the first attempt having to add a further bracing tube under the tank later in the year.

The Bonneville was launched in 1958 and was a twin carb pure sports machine, while the TR6 Trophy was basically a single carb version of the Bonneville (half the carbs, half the trouble) while sporting the same engine internals, pistons, cams etc. making it much more tractable and easier to live with.

This particular machine has been subject to a complete ground up restoration by Rickman Motorcycles. All mechanical parts have been overhauled and any worn or damaged parts replaced, while all cosmetics have been restored to exceptional condition. The machine has been started and checked over, it has then been drained of fuel and oil and has been stored since. A new battery has been fitted and all electrics have been checked and work properly. The magneto, carburettor and speedometer have all been professionally restored. This machine comes with a dating letter to enable it to be registered and is a rare opportunity to own a duplex framed TR6SS in show-stopping condition.
