Launched way back in 1964, the Ford Mustang has gone on to become one of the most iconic names in US motoring history. See one rumble by today and you immediately think of Steve McQueen's Lt Frank Bullitt hurtling through the streets of San Francisco in the greatest car chase ever filmed. The car has gone through five generations of development and is still popular today thanks to its ‘retro-futurist’ styling.
The fourth generation cars, as here, were produced from 1994 until 2004 with a ‘new edge’ styling revision in 1999 which introduced sharper contours, larger wheel arches and creases in the bodywork. Two main engine options were available, the 190bhp 3.8-litre V6 and the 260bhp 4.6-litre V8.
This January 2002 Mustang GT Convertible has the larger 4.6-litre V8 mated to a manual gearbox. Finished in white with an electrically operated white hood, it has covered some 103,000 miles to date in the hands of just three UK owners. Equipment includes air conditioning, climate control, central locking, electric windows, power steering, cruise control, highly polished alloy wheels and a black leather interior. Said to drive very well, the car is due to have a fresh MOT before the sale and has a distinctive private plate, T7 OAH.
