Triumph introduced the export only TR3B in March 1962, aimed squarely at the American market. Visually indistinguishable from its TR3A forebear, it used the same tough box-section chassis equipped with independent coil and wishbone front suspension, a 'live' rear axle and disc / drum brakes.

Where it differed was in its drivetrain. The only 'sidescreen' TR to boast an all-synchromesh gearbox, it was fitted with the same 2138cc four-cylinder engine as its TR4 sibling from May 1962 onwards. Reputed to develop some 105bhp and 127lbft of torque, this robust OHV unit endowed the TR3B with a 110mph top speed and spirited acceleration. Now highly collectable, these cars are easy to work on and restore with excellent parts availability and can readily be converted from left- to right-hand drive if so desired.

Dating from around 1962, this particular left-hand drive TR3B was imported back from America in 2008 and has since undergone a full body-off restoration. Every part of the car was restored or renewed as necessary although the engine was found to be in good condition and did not require a rebuild. Stripped to bare metal and repainted in Signal Red, it was also retrimmed in black leather inside and wire wheels fitted. Said to run and drive well it has just been issued with a fresh MOT. Although all duties have been paid, it has not yet been UK registered. A Heritage Certificate has been applied for and should be with the car by the time of the sale.

Please note that at the time of cataloguing we had not had chance to examine either the vehicle or its documentation and prospective purchasers are invited to do so before they place their bids.
