The vendor states that: “This is the second of the big fin racing bikes. Despatched to Border Motorcycles, Wrexham on 17th November 1954, it comes with Gold Star and VMCC dating certificates and engine performance certificate from 23rd March 1954. The early frames were found to be cracking at the engine mounts and nearly all the bikes that competed in the Junior TT in 1954 were returned to the factory to be fitted with stronger lugged frames, as with this machine, which in November 1954 was fitted with frame CB32 1737 according to the BSA factory records. This is a very rare Clubman Gold Star and very few of these have survived. This machine was completely restored in 2009 and has had very little running since. The exhaust note has the characteristic performance Gold Star twitter. When being rebuilt the engine was found to have large valves and to be highly polished, the sign of a well tuned engine. It comes with a lovely rare alloy Lita Gold Star petrol tank.” It is supplied with an MOT until September 2012.
