Porsche 968 Cabriolet

As you will see from Tony Dron’s comments that head the description of the other example in today’s sale, the Porsche 968 is one of the finest driver’s cars that money can buy. Sold between 1992 and 1995, the 968 was the ultimate development of the highly rated 944 and was powered by an updated version of the 944’s straight-four engine, now displacing 3-litres and producing 240bhp, sufficient for a 0 – 60mph time of 6 seconds and a top speed of 153mph. 

Features included a new VarioRam variable valve timing system, optimised induction and exhaust systems, a dual-mass flywheel and updated engine management electronics among other more revisions. A new 6-speed manual transmission replaced the old 5-speed box and Porsche's dual-mode Tiptronic semi-automatic box became an available option. Brembo brakes ensured that stopping power was up to the task.

Dating from June 1994, this particular 968 Cabriolet has the semi-automatic Tiptronic gearbox and is finished in Midnight Blue with a cream hide interior. The car has covered some 93,000 miles in the hands of five previous owners and comes with many bills and old MOT certificates to warrant the mileage. Recently treated to a belt service and new tyres, it is said to be “in good condition throughout and to drive very well with no major issues or problems”. The power hood is in good condition and operates as it should. Fitted with attractive Porsche Cup alloys, it also has a CD player and is MOTd until October 2012. These beautifully built cars are fabulous to drive and this one looks an absolute steal at the guide price suggested today.
