Launched in 1961, the Austin A60 was the last model in the popular Austin Cambridge range which had begun life as the A40 in 1954. Initially fitted with a 1.2-litre engine, this had grown to 1.6-litres by the time the A60 came out. Well regarded by press and public alike, the A60 was a highly successful model with some 275,000 examples sold in total. Although A60 car production came to an end in 1969, light commercial versions continued to be produced until 1971.

Dating from 1968, this particular A60 pick-up has been owned by the current vendor since 1997. In 1992, when it was owned by the vendor’s business partner, the vehicle was fitted with a 1.8-litre ‘B’ Series Morris Marina engine in place of the original 1.6-litre unit. The front seat was also replaced and the interior generally tidied up.

Between 1997 and 2002 the pick-up was in daily year-round use in connection with the owner’s joinery business (hence the current sign writing on the vehicle), also completing a couple of tours of Scotland and numerous trips to London and the South-East. It is said to have proved totally reliable throughout this time. In 2002 it was taken off the road and sent to Central Garage in Church Stretton for some light refurbishment and it has remained in storage ever since. Currently on SORN but due to have a fresh MOT before the sale, it would make an ideal promotional vehicle for any small business.
