A masculine, broad-shouldered design, the Bentley Mulsanne was styled in-house by Austrian born Fritz Feller. Introduced at the 1980 Paris Motor Show, it enjoyed notably greater road presence than its T2 predecessor as well as a thirty percent larger glass area making it pleasantly airy inside. Although based on the T2 floorpan, the Mulsanne offered considerable improvements in both ride and handling thanks to its new Girling automatic ride height control and gas shock absorbers. Capable of 120mph, the car was beautifully hushed at all speeds thanks to copious amounts of sound deadening and sumptuous upholstery. A three-speed automatic transmission was standard along with power-assisted steering and disc brakes. Only in production from 1980 to 1987, just 533 examples were made.

First registered in June 1985, this particular Mulsanne is finished in Horse Chestnut with a beige Everflex roof. It has covered only 69,000 miles from new with an extensive service history comprising 21 service stamps to date, the last less than 1,500 miles ago. Said to be a smart example all round and to drive very well, it has an MOT until September 2012 and retains all its original handbooks.
