In typical Ford fashion, the new 105E borrowed styling cues from the US in an economical and sweet handling package to suit the pocket of the British customer. A touch of glamour in an otherwise conventional car, it sold like hot cakes – nearly 200,000 in the first production year. When the new Cortina came along shortly after, it appeared Ford could do no wrong.

The new look Anglia used the backward angle rear window first seen on the 1958 Lincoln with restrained rear fins in an otherwise conventional design. Machpherson struts were fitted up front, while the rear axle was mounted on semi elliptic springs. The ‘ace in the hole’ was the new ‘Kent’ engine, an oversquare ohv unit replacing the archaic 1172cc side valve that had first been seen pre-war. A success in the showrooms and on the race track, the Anglia further entered the UK psyche thanks to its starring role in J K Rowling’s 'Harry Potter' series.

This 1962 example has been displayed at the Mouldsworth Museum for many years. It formed a complete Harry Potter display, including various book shop display units which are included in the sale. Although not the car used in the films, it was on display with the 7990 TD number plates used in the films and which are most definitely not included in the sale.

At some point in the past, the curator of the museum was informed that this example has been upgraded with disc brakes and an engine from a 1500GT, although we advise potential purchasers to satisfy themselves that this is the case. The vendor has requested paperwork from the DVLA, although at the time of cataloguing this has not yet been returned. The car has not run for a number of years and will require a certain amount of restoration before it can fly again!
