The + 4 Morgan was introduced as a high performance version of the 4/4 model and originally used the outstanding Standard Vanguard/TR2 engine giving the car the sort of performance that it had always craved.

During the 1980s an M16 2-litre 16-valve Rover engine was used which suited the car very well, upgraded to the 136bhp T16 when that was introduced as an improved version. Based on the wider +8 chassis, it had 195 section tyres which give it a wider stance than the 4/4, the wings being set out to cover the extra rubber.

Often confused with the 4-seater, the +4 was a model in it own right, and was available as either a 2 or a 4-seater. Offering strong performance thanks to its light weight, the +4 is decently quick and offers arguably the best long distance touring performance of the range, combining plenty of go with a very pleasant balanced feel.

This 1994 4-seater example has had 3 owners from new and was specified from the factory in Indigo Blue with dark blue leather, walnut dashboard, door pockets and an extra tread rubber. It now has attractive painted wire wheels, a luggage carrier and has been upgraded with a new Mohair hood with speedfit system, tonneau and an adjustable rod rear view mirror.

At around 30,000 miles in 2007, the owner opted to fit a Getrag gearbox conversion, smoothing out the rather clunky gear change. This necessitated a replacement speedometer which now reads some 27,000 miles.

In 2010, with the new odometer showing some 20,000 miles the car received a front brake upgrade, with new discs and 4-pot calipers at a cost of £1,300. Furthermore it has been regularly and comprehensively serviced by a well know Morgan main dealer who has recently replaced a chipped windscreen. With recent tyres and an MOT until February 2014, this well presented and sensibly uprated 4-seater is ready to be enjoyed.
