Introduced in 1965, the Pininfarina styled MGB GT 2+2 was largely based on the convertible, but used a taller windscreen and new roof line.

The MGB range was an enormous success and its popularity as an affordable fun car has not diminished. Furthermore its 95bhp B series engine with twin 1 ½ “ SUs makes for a 105mph top speed. Their reliability, performance and excellent handling mean that there is no reason why they cannot be used every day.

This 1972 overdrive model was purchased by the vendor from Steels in Hereford in 1976. He spotted it on the forecourt for £1,500 with 12,700 miles on the clock. Over the ensuing years he used it regularly, the mileage now totalling some 77,000, backed up by a file with no fewer than 37 old MOTs!

In 1983 the vendor decided it needed a spruce up, and had inner and outer sills replaced at a cost of £2,235. He also had a Stage 1 head, a free-flow exhaust and 1 ¾” SUs fitted. He also invested in a stainless steel exhaust and fitted an alarm system. Invoices on file show all of the service and maintenance done to the vehicle, the last MOT showing an advisory on a corroded jacking point which was professionally repaired as a matter or course. It is currently MOTd until November 2013.

Described by the vendor as running and driving beautifully, he is reluctantly selling only because it is not getting the use it deserves.
