The Fordson E27N was Ford's post war tractor, enjoying popularity both in America and here in the UK where it was assembled from 1945 onwards.
Based on the pre-war N series, with its T model derived 27HP engine, the new machine used updated castings which allowed for a PTO shaft, a 3 point link as well as the pulley which allowed belt driven machinery to be used. It served well, being tough and reliable, albeit a little underpowered for really heavy work. Later in its life Ford added a big Perkins 45HP P6 into the range which was the basis for a series of Crawlers and the 4-wheel drive County - but that’s another story.
Thought to date from around 1950, this tidy example was purchased by the vendor some years ago and is reported to run and drive well. He was led to believe that it is fitted with the taller final drive ratio, the transaxle being stamped SR77.
