Much favoured by the Post Office in the 1960s, the Bantam was a very familiar sight on the roads of Britain, buzzing along leaving a faint blue haze from its robust 2-stroke engine.
During its production run from 1948 to 1971, over 300,000 left the Smallheath factory, the last of the line D175 models being very different machines to the original 125cc DKW design.
This c.1967 example comes from a large collection and was last used on the road in 1977. The engine turns freely, although bidders are advised that there is no paperwork accompanying the bike and that the registration number is not recognised by the DVLA.
