In the 1930s Raleigh were known not only for their bicycles, but also for their motorbikes and a strange Austin Seven powered 3-wheeler delivery van.

They soon gave up their interest in powered machinery but were tempted back into it thanks to the boom in moped and scooter sales in the late ‘50s. Initially making a rather feeble bicycle based version, they soon signed a deal with Mobylette to build their excellent machine under licence. Available in an attractive package with two-tone paintwork, the Supermatic sold well through Raleigh's existing network of bicycle dealers.

This Supermatic RM5 is thought to date from around 1960 and is offered here for restoration with no paperwork and no reserve.
