The Mobylette was part of another French Revolution. At home as much in the country carrying chickens to market as in central Paris during rush hour, they replaced everything from the horse and trap to the Gendarme's bicycle.

Produced by the Motobecane company, some 14 million were produced between 1949 and 1997, the word Mobylette or ‘Moby’ becoming a generic term in France for any small-engined motorcycle. Built under licence in both Britain by Raleigh and in India under the name Suvega, there is now a cult following for these iconic and stylish machines.

This 1966 model ‘Mobymatic’ is offered for restoration. Unfortunately the V5 document has been mislaid by the vendor, although the registration number is recognised by the DVLA.
