Founded in Suffolk in 1958 by the four Walklett brothers, Ginetta Cars has always specialised in producing dual purpose road and race cars using lightweight GRP bodywork, tubular spaceframe chassis and proprietary engines.

A wide variety of models have been produced over the years with engines ranging from the 1-litre Hillman Imp unit to a 4.7-litre Ford V8. Much respected on the competition circuit, Ginettas have clocked up numerous wins on tracks all around the world and continue to enjoy a lively competition scene being eligible for many race series.

This particular car is a G27 Series 4, an updated version of the celebrated G4 which had won Ginetta many friends between 1961 and 1969. Registered as a 1999 model it has been carefully built up over the last few years by the current vendor with help from specialists when required.

At the heart of the car lies a thumping 3.5-litre Rover V8 which has been built to full ‘Real Steel’ 251bhp spec but with standard heads and no free-flow exhaust. The gearbox has been overhauled with new cones, seals and gaskets and a Ford Sierra limited slip diff installed. The professionally fitted interior is in blue alcantara with Willans safety harnesses, and the wheels are original Fondmetal.

Since the build was completed it has covered less than 50 miles and is still running in. Not yet DVLA registered or inspected by VOSA, it will be eligible for road use once these formalities have been completed or could be used as an exciting track day car. Being offered here at a fraction of the costs lavished on it to date, it has an impressive power-to-weight ratio and is sure to provide plenty of thrills to its lucky new owner.
