Launched in 1995, the MG F was the first all-new car to bear the MG name since the demise of the MGB in 1980. A proper mid-engined two-seater sportscar, it was warmly received by press and public alike.

Things got even better in 2002 when the MG TF was launched, a heavily revised version of the F and named after the classic TF of the 1950s. Much stiffer and more technically advanced than the F, it was a fine handling car with confident road holding and a free-revving 1.8-litre engine. The Hydragas suspension was replaced by a more conventional springs and dampers set up and the car won many fans for its eager and sure-footed nature.

Pick of the range, according to Auto Express, was the TF 135: “Our test car was powered by the company's 134bhp 1.8-litre engine. It's far from hi-tech, but the four-cylinder unit delivers a 0-60mph sprint time of 8.2 seconds and rarely feels overwhelmed. Mounted behind the driver's seat, the engine sounds sporty, which adds to the excitement. It's undoubtedly the pick of the range, offering far better value than the 158bhp flagship.”

Dating from March 2003, this Metallic Brooklands Green example has tan leather trim and a dark green soft top. It has covered some 78,400 miles to date and comes with a stamped up service history plus numerous supporting invoices including one for the essential head gasket replacement which was carried out by MG Rover specialists Leonard Daborn of Surrey in 2008. It has also just had a full brake system overhaul.
.

Said to be in very good condition all round, it is MOTd and taxed until August and is ready to drive away today.
