Launched in 1962 to replace the MGA which had done wonders for the reputation of the marque and sold in previously unheard-of numbers, the MGB was also an immediate success.

Powered by an enlarged 1,789cc version of the BMC 'B' series engine with pushrod operated overhead-valves, it developed a useful 94bhp, could hit 100mph with ease and produced bags of torque at very low revs. Providing comfortable accommodation for two, it was available in both GT and Roadster forms, both with plenty of luggage carrying capacity, and remains a very pleasing and practical classic today with timeless Pininfarina styling which just looks better with every passing year.

First registered in the long hot summer of 1976, this particular MGB looks particularly attractive in red with chrome wire wheels, stainless steel sill covers and a glass sunroof. A desirable overdrive model, the seats have been trimmed in black leather piped in red while a woodrim steering wheel completes the sporting look.

With just one keeper for the last seven years, the car has been mainly kept in storage throughout that time but has just been recommissioned for sale. Said to be running and driving well with a new MOT recently secured, it should prove a lot of fun for the new owner in the coming summer months.
