History

Introduced in 1982, the Jalpa was a development of the preceding Urraco and Silhouette models but was an altogether better car. With typically 80s styling from Bertone, it was intended to fill a role as a more 'affordable' Lamborghini, being much cheaper than the Countach. Instead of the big car's V12, the Jalpa was fitted with a transversely-mounted 3.5 litre V8 that developed 255bhp and 235 lb/ft of torque – sufficient to propel it from 0-60 in 6 seconds on its way to a top speed of 155mph.

The Jalpa was much easier to drive than the Countach, having better visibility and being more tractable in heavy traffic. Well built and mechanically robust, it was also much easier to live with and gained a reputation as one of the more reliable Italian exotics of the time. Some 410 examples were sold before production ended in 1988, of which only 40 are believed to have been RHD – making this car a rare beast indeed.

First registered in November 1987, it is one of the last Jalpa P350s made and has covered just 25,000 miles from new. Looking particularly moody in black, it has a lovely tan leather interior, piped in black, with a new set of contrasting carpets.

Said to be in excellent condition throughout and to "pull like a train" in any of its five gears, it comes with a CD player, a valuable private plate (YFC 1R) and a carbon fibre rear spoiler which has yet to be fitted. With an extensive service history and a long MOT, it is ready to jump straight into and enjoy. You are unlikely to ever see another one coming the other way and it will really get you noticed in the pub car park!
