The FT 500 was so named because of its Flat Track style. Its big 499cc single-cylinder engine produced 33bhp which would propel the bike at over 95mph. The balancer shaft had its work cut out to smooth the pulses from the long stroke single, but they were pleasant to ride if the gears were shifted early and they felt good thanks to the prodigious torque.
This well kept budget ‘80s classic has covered 36,000 miles and has been fitted with a small screen, panniers, heated grips, luggage rack and Micron exhaust. It also had a new battery last year and is taxed and MOTd until September 2014 so it can be ridden away from the sale.
