From 1988, a special XJR-S version of the V12 5.3-litre XJS was produced by JaguarSport, a separate company owned 50:50 by Jaguar and TWR.

This car had a distinctive body kit, special alloy wheels and suspension and handling improvements, some 350 being made up to September 1989 when a larger 6.0-litre engine was fitted. The extra displacement came via a stroke increase from 70mm to 78.5mm and re-engineered crankshaft, pistons, connecting rods and cylinder liners. A new Zytec sequential digital ignition engine management system was adopted, derived from the Group C World Sportscar Jaguar. Providing 329bhp and 362lb/ft of torque, the 6.0-litre had a claimed top speed of 158mph (limited) and a 0-60mph time of 6.5 seconds.

Specially built at the JaguarSport premises in Bloxham, Oxfordshire, the suspension was stiffened even further with revised front and rear springs, wheel size was increased to 8" Speedlines and cosmetic packages were also available, including a special Momo steering wheel, gearknob, carpets and even a JaguarSport key fob. Five colours were available, Racing Green, Signal Red, Solent Blue, Arctic Blue and Black. The XJR-S 6.0 stayed in production until 1993 by which time 1,130 cars had been built.

Supplied new by Grange of Exeter in April 1991, this Racing Green example has covered 92,300 miles with 10 main dealer service stamps up to 71,200 miles in October 1995 plus a bill for another service at around 80,000 miles in 1996. Acquired by the vendor when it was just over a year old, it was used regularly until 1998 when it was put into storage.

Treated to regular runs down a long private drive to keep everything free, it was enjoying a comfortable retirement until fairly recently when the owner’s teenage son decided it was his turn to take the beast for its annual run up the drive. Unfortunately, being rather more used to pedal power than the shove of a racebred V12, he lost control of the car and slewed off the drive, taking down a line of young trees in the process.

As you can see this has done the car no good at all, with severe damage to the whole of the driver's side and a cracked windscreen, although the car still drives well. The interior is in excellent shape with cream leather piped in Jaguar Racing Green.

Never recorded on an insurance loss register, the car could be repaired but would also make a good source of spares or the basis for some kind of V12 hotrod. The choice is yours and it is being sold here with no reserve so the highest bid takes it. It comes with the aforementioned service record, all its original handbooks and two sets of keys.
