Description Triumph Trophy 250 Special
Year 1969
Colour White
Engine size 250 cc

Launched in 1968, Triumph’s new TRW25 Trophy was a re-working of it's BSA stable-mate, the B25 Starfire, but fitted with different gearing, larger wheels and an upswept exhaust to make it suited to occasional off-road use.

At the time BSA/Triumph were not offering a proper over-the-counter trials machine and many enterprising owners saw the potential of the TRW25 Trophy. Thames Ditton dealership Comerford’s already had experience of making a competitive trials machine based on the Triumph Tiger Cub, and when the Cub was withdrawn in 1967 they lighted on the TRW25 Trophy as a suitable replacement.

Too expensive for most pockets, only a few of these highly competitive Comerford Trophy trials machines were sold, but the vision had been created and many more were created privately using Comerford’s model as a template.

The machine offered here has been created along the lines of the Comerford Trophy trials, with all surplus weight stripped away and lighter components substituted where necessary to make it more nimble in competition. Modified for twin shock trials use, it also features self generating ignition, an alloy central oil tank and a high level exhaust. It has recently been treated to a new seat and glassfibre fuel tank, new seals and bearings, new rims, spokes and tyres and a conical alloy front brake.

A 1969 model, it has no frame or engine numbers so is suitable for off road use only. Said to start easily and to ride well, this lightweight, capable machine looks very smart and just needs a new owner to take it out and get dirty.
