Barely a day goes by when you don’t see a Morris 1000 on the road. They are such a familiar sight that even to a classic enthusiast they barely raise a second glance.
Much of this is down to the original design, which was so good in its day that even 65 years on they can still perform as practical everyday transport. Light steering, miserly fuel consumption and with perfectly adequate performance for most journeys, these have to be the ultimate ‘green machines’.
This 1966 two-door Morris 1000 has been stored away in a barn for the last 12 months or so. A popular member of the family since its acquisition in 2000, it was used regularly and was in running order before being parked up. The MOT expired as recently as April 2014 and it is currently on SORN.
No doubt requiring a modicum of light recommissioning and a fresh battery before it can be used again, it looks to be a car that will respond particularly well to a thorough clean-up, bringing out the nice example that lurks beneath the layer of dust.
