The Bantam had been in production for some 20 years before it finally received a four-speed gearbox and alternator electrics. This final model was long overdue and the updates were sorely needed, but it arrived a little too late to keep pace with the new offerings from the Land of the Rising Sun.

Nonetheless, these later Bantam models initially sold well but could not stem the tide of the quicker, neater, shinier, imported models and the Bantam was finally withdrawn from production in 1970.

The model offered here is one of the later much improved D14/4 models and was first registered in December 1967. Even though the engine number is D13, BSA was canny enough not to call the model by the unlucky 13 number and chose instead the D14 with the other 4 designating the four-speed gearbox.

There are no documents with this lot, but a check on the DVLA website shows it to be on the computer and a V62 application form and the necessary fee should enable a V5C to be issued. Sold strictly as viewed, this is a suitable machine for refurbishment or restoration and appears to be complete and in reasonable order.
