BSA's longest produced model, the Bantam was copied from the DKW motorcycle after World War Two, starting out as a rigid-framed 125cc machine in 1948 and being modified and improved until it's demise in 1971.
The first swinging arm framed machine was launched some 10 years after the first Bantams rolled off the production line, the frame finding its ultimate design the following year with the D7 model of 1959, which ran with few frame modifications until its final incarnation at the end of production
The bike offered here is a D7 175cc model first registered in May 1967. Only partially complete, it would make a starter project for restoration, a source of useful spares or the basis for a trials machine. There are no documents with this lot but a check on the DVLA database shows it is recorded on the computer system and a V62 application should allow a V5C to be issued. It is being sold here strictly as viewed with no reserve.
