BSA Bantams were a popular choice among the youth of 50 years ago, many a youngster’s first foray onto the road being at the helm of one of these much loved machines.
Combining cheap transport and a sporty ride with low maintenance costs, the humble Bantam provided much needed mobility and a sense of freedom to the teenager and to the older commuter alike. Designs were altered to suit the fashion of the time and both frame and engine power were continually modified to keep this iconic model abreast of the times.
The model here is a December 1968 registered 175cc which, while sporting the 175cc 3-speed engine, may well have had an engine transplant as by 1968 the Bantam was normally equipped with the 4-speed unit.
Being only partially complete, this machine would make a good basis for restoration or spares. There are no documents with it, but a check on the DVLA website shows it to be listed on the system and a V62 application should allow a V5C to be issued. It is being sold here strictly as viewed with no reserve.
