The Morris Minor is just as much a part of British life as the red telephone box, the vicar on a bicycle and the friendly local pub.

Forming part of the landscape since 1948, it is still such a common sight on our highways and byways that it hardly merits a second glance. Unless it looks like this one. As you can imagine, we have sold a fair few Moggies over the last 10 years (there are no fewer than seven of them in this sale!). But seldom have we sold one quite so eye-catching as this.

First registered on 24th June 1971, it is believed to be the 11th from last Traveller ever made (production ceased for good in April 1971). When you consider that over 1.6 million Minors were made in total, that makes it quite a special beastie, though whether it is now the youngest surviving Moggie is up to you to find out.

As you can tell from the condition, it has been fully restored over the last three years, the body receiving new sills and new wings before being repainted in wonderful Teal Blue. The seats appear original and are in good condition and it has been newly carpeted throughout.

Still believed to be running on its original engine and gearbox, it has also received a full mechanical overhaul with many new parts fitted as required. This has included a thorough overhaul of the braking system, new fuel line and reconditioned fuel pump, many new hoses and a full service with all the usual items replaced (plugs, points, condenser, distributor cap, LT lead, rotor arm, oil and filter). New tyres have also been fitted all round and the only departure from standard is a brake servo.

Now in lovely condition throughout and driving beautifully, it has an MOT until February 2015 and comes with a good file of bills and photographs charting work and expenditure to date, plus the correct wheel changing kit and spare wheel.

By no means a show queen, it is just a lovely old Moggie in a wonderful colour that has been sympathetically refurbished by someone who clearly knew what they were doing. The fact that it is also one of the very last ones made is just icing on an already splendid cake.

AMENDMENT: Please note an HPI check states that this car was subject to a Category C insurance claim in July 2010 (damaged, repairable).
