Lot number 130
Hammer value £1,200
Description Salmson Twin cam engine and Cotal gearbox
Year c.1937
Engine size 2,312 cc

This 2.3-litre twin cam Salmson engine and Cotal pre-selector gearbox is thought to date from the mid-1930s and possibly comes from one of the S4 models that Salmson were producing at that time.

However, not being Salmson experts, we are by no means certain of its true origins and bidders are advised to do their own research as to its correct identity and possible usage. Being offered here from a deceased estate, this lot is sold strictly 'as seen'.

CATALOGUE AMENDMENT: Bidders are advised that the Cotal gearbox number is 56729. The engine is accompanied by a box with a carburettor and a water pump. The head appears to have been removed for inspection. The engine is not free to turn.
