Do you have a secret desire for a US Army High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (Humvee) but don’t have the space for one? When you were little, were you teased by other kids because your pedal car was too small?

If you can put your hand up to either of those questions, you’re in luck. Simply keep your hand up for long enough and you can redress both issues with this: a ride-on mini-Humvee. Being only 6ft long and 3ft wide, it will definitely fit where the 15ft x 7ft big ’un won’t, but it is still big enough to be the biggest, meanest pedal car in town.

Make no mistake, in the ride-on market, this is a pretty serious piece of kit. Just look at the spec: it’s powered by a 9hp 296cc Briggs and Stratton petrol engine with electronic ignition (9hp is some serious push – there are some full-sized cars in this sale with not a lot more); it will do a heady 18mph; it can tackle 1 in 4 gradients; if the driver gets too enthusiastic, there are hydraulically-assisted brakes to haul it up; the gearbox has three settings: cross-country, travel and reverse. No wonder it cost £22,000 from Harrods when new!

This baby Hummer is as tough as it looks with a steel frame under the well-finished glass fibre body. The suspension is designed to cope with some rough riding. Independent all round, it features triangular arms at the front and lateral arms at the rear, with telescopic dampers and coil springs on all four wheels. The wheels themselves are two-piece alloy split rims and the steering, via a comfortable polyurethane steering wheel, is by rack-and-pinion.

The open cabin had adjustable leather seats, a sturdy roll bar and a fully-functioning radio and tape deck (removable) with speakers on both side doors. It even has functioning head and tail lights so you can go off-roading in the dark.

Of course, this being so near to Christmas, it is the perfect time to buy our tough petrol-powered pedal car – for yourself. Why? Because it’s far too much fun to waste on your kids! This being the ‘season of giving’, everyone will think you are indulgently bidding on it for some spoilt offspring. Well, here at Brightwells we understand your predicament so don’t worry, you won’t be asked for proof of children or extended family at the point of sale. So get bidding and treat yourself – you deserve it!
