You know a car designer got it right when the machine they designed looks just as good today as it did at launch 20 years ago.

Beautifully styled by Keith Helfet and Ian Callum, the DB7 stole the show when it was unveiled at the 1993 Geneva Salon and has such pure and elegant lines that it will never go out of fashion. A worthy successor to the DB6, it was also far better built (thanks to the deep pockets of Ford) and simply blows it into the weeds when it comes to performance.

With 335bhp on tap, it could sprint to 60mph in just 5.7 seconds with a top speed of 165mph, all to a magnificent sound track from its supercharged 3.2-litre 24v straight-six. Thanks to input from Tom Walkinshaw Racing, it also handled beautifully for a big GT, the suspension being specially tuned for British roads and the powerful brakes borrowing from Group C race car technology.

The leather and walnut-trimmed cockpit is as classy as you would expect for £90k new with thick Connolly hide and all the luxuries you need to keep you fresh on a trans-continental blast like powered everything and a fine driving position. History has proved that the DB7 is also remarkably untemperamental for a specialist super-coupe with very reasonable servicing costs from the many specialists that look after the model.

This March 1998 DB7 Automatic looks stunning in dark blue with a cream leather interior and has covered only 76,800 miles with 18 services to date, the first 16 at AM main agents. Last serviced about 6,000 miles ago in December 2008 and with an MOT until the end of the year, it is said to drive beautifully. Always garaged and little used these last six years, it now needs an enthusiastic new owner to give it the exercise that it deserves.

Given that only 7,000 DB7s of all types were made and that only around 950 six-cylinder models are still registered in the UK today, they look remarkable value at the moment and, as with the DB6, it can only be a matter of time before prices begin to head skyward. So if you have ever lusted after one of these gorgeous machines, don’t hang about – have a bid!

AMENDMENT: The driver's door glass on this car spontaneously shattered during the viewing and will need to be replaced.
