James, along with so many other British motorcycle manufacturers of the period, moved from bicycle production to motorcycles at the turn of the century.
Initially making sporting machines, they soon focused on the utility market and continued doing so until they finally ceased production in 1966 due to the onslaught of cheaper, better Japanese machines.
This lovely old machine is accompanied by a large sheaf of bills detailing recent expenditure. A new exhuast was fitted in June 2014 at a cost of £154 and 14 old MOTs show an accumulation of mileage since 1993 of no more than 1,500 miles. Its most recent test expired in September of last year.
Furthermore, a detailed history back to 1963 when it was first delivered confirms that the total mileage from new is still under 3,400 and in 1993 the bike's history was covered in a fascinating four-page full colour article in the November edition of The Classic Motorcycle, a copy of which is enclosed.
If an AMC lightweight is at the top of your shopping list, you can look no further.
