The elegant Pininfarina styled GT version of the successful MGB joined the open-topped Roadster during the latter part of 1965.
Its taller, more upright windscreen blended harmoniously with the fastback design, the taller roof line allowing room for a handy set of occasional rear seats. The MGB was to become the best-selling sports car of all time until Mazda got in on the act with their clever MX5, selling an astonishing 520,000 before production came to a halt in 1980.
Purchased by the vendor in 1999 as a running car with a faulty clutch master cylinder, this 1972 tax exempt example never quite got to the top of the ‘to do’ list and has consequently remained patiently waiting for something to happen to it for nearly 16 years. Well now it has, the car having been entered into this sale on offer at No Reserve!
Complete, the engine turns freely and according to the vendor it was running when it stopped if that makes sense! Looking like a nice straightforward project, it has been under cover all these years and will no doubt keep its new owner out of trouble for quite a few evenings and weekends during the summer months.
Catalogue Amendment: Put off road due to clutch hydraulic failure, last used in 1987, stored under cover since. No modifications.
