Undoubtedly one of the best-loved British cars ever made, the venerable MGB has won fans all over the globe for 50 years now and, as survivors dwindle and modern cars get ever more bland and samey, it just gets more appealing with every year that passes.

Radiating a carefree Swinging Sixties image, not only is the MGB fun to drive, it is also eminently capable of daily use and has a wonderful knack of bringing a smile to the face of everyone who sees one passing by. Get behind the wheel of an MGB today and not only will you bring out the best in other road users, you will also enjoy a little halo of self-content as you bask in the reflected glow of your tasteful choice of transport. Old enough to be interesting, but not so flash as to cause resentment, there really is no nicer way of getting from A to B.

One of several MGBs in our sale today, this pretty little Roadster dates from 1972 and has been in the current lady ownership since 1999. A much-loved family member, it has been used in fine weather only and kept garaged when not in use. Always well-maintained in the current 16-year ownership, it was fitted with a replacement Gold Seal engine in 2003 and runs happily on unleaded fuel, recently completing a coastline tour of Scotland, Northern Brittany and Normandy with no problems whatsoever.

Other recent new parts include a mohair hood, new carpets, new MGOC leather seats and an electric cooling fan, the electrics having been converted from the original twin 6v batteries to a more modern single 12v battery system. Presented in classic British Racing Green with a black leather interior, it is said to be in generally good condition throughout with no rusting underneath although the vendor does advise that it has some typical MG bubbling along the ridge of the wings.

With an MOT until July 2015 and exempt from road tax, it was fully serviced by MG Motorsports of Herts last April (renowned MGB race car builders) and is now said to be "driving brilliantly after her winter rest". Supplied with a Heritage Certificate confirming its origins, it also has an MGOC agreed insurance valuation of £7,000. Being offered here at a fraction of that amount, it now only needs another appreciative owner who will continue to pamper it in the manner to which it has become accustomed.
